Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited held their fortnightly sale of Store and OTM cattle on Monday 17 July 2017.
Numbers were short of buyers requirements and easily maintained recent rates. A plainer show of OTMs were forward resulting in a lower average of 140.59ppk but in truth they were every bit as dear as a fortnight ago. Cows topped at 163ppk for a Stabilser from Congeith with an Angus from Muncraig selling to £1427.82. Overall top per head was £1500.40 for a Stabiliser bull from Congeith which also realised 155ppk. Overage heifers sold to 203ppk for AA from Cogarth and £1231.20 for Stabilser from Congeith.
A small show of stores were easily cashed selling to £1125 for a pen of AA Heifers from Graplin Farms with bullocks selling to £1055 or 242ppk from Muncraig.

Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Tuesday 18th July 2017 had forward 1389 Prime and Cast Sheep.
1283 prime lambs sold to average 211.59ppk (SQQ 211.83ppk). Well fleshed lambs easily maintained last week’s rates with lambs scaling under 41kgs being harder to place unless smarter bred. Top today was £110 for heavy Texels from Rascarrel, Auchencairn with top per kilo being 244.2 for a pen of Beltex from Compstonend, Twynholm.
Cast ewes sold similar on the week selling to £117 for Texel ewes from Hillside and also Texel Rams from Breckoniehill.
