Two Public Meetings are being held today Wednesday the 30th of August 2017 about the proposed closure of Kirkbean Primary School. It is one of 3 schools across the region along with Ae and Garlieston, which are also at risk of closure.
The official 6 week statutory consultation period on the proposed closure started on the 23rd August and a Public Meeting will be held regarding Kirkbean Primary School today at 3.30pm at the school and also at 6pm at New Abbey Primary School (partnership school). Members of the community are urged to attend either meeting and voice their concerns regarding the potential closure of the school.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, please submit in writing any concerns by e-mailing: [email protected] by 3rd October.
Like many rural schools, Kirkbean Primary School has been part of the community for over 300 years. We do not want to lose such a great school, where many pupils and indeed families have attended over the years. The school is a key part of the community and of village life and support is needed to keep these rural schools open.
