The Old Well Theatre in Moffat organises a Fun Play Reading each month, free and open to the local community. No acting skill of any kind is required and it is an opportunity for local people to have some fun together and get to know a play.
The next evening is Monday, 11th September, when the play featured will be by local playwright, Gerry Griffin. Gerry is a drama teacher at Lockerbie Academy and her debut work is ‘The Sea Maidens’ which was recently performed over four nights at The Coach House, Moniaive.
The drama is set in a very small island off the west coast of Scotland in the early 1900’s. In Gerry’s words the premise is as follows “A small community of women are living alone as all of the men have disappeared at sea. The mainlanders believe them to be cursed and nobody goes near the island. However, unknown to the women, a man has washed up on the shore and his presence is sure to change island life forever.”
The evening starts at 7.30 and all are welcome.
