Operation Safety, now in its twentieth year in Dumfries and Galloway started again on Monday 25 September 2017 and runs through until Friday 13 October 2017.

Operation Safety is an interactive learning experience for school children, usually in Primary 7, and aims to give young people an experiential learning involvement in some of the issues which can affect them in today’s society.

This year the operation is being held at the Dupont Teijin Films, Cargenbridge.
The event itself is a multi-agency event organised by Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and SP Energy Networks.

Inputs this year will include Fire Safety in the home, Firework Safety, Electricity Safety, Internet Safety and Emergency First Aid.

At the end of the day each pupil will receive an interactive comic book style workbook to take away with them which contains more information and quizzes about area not mentioned on the day.

The continued hosting of Operation Safety has only been possible with the support of a number of agencies and local organisations which include The Holywood Trust, Dumfries & Galloway Council, Tesco, Dumfries and Galloway Housing Partnership, Loreburn Housing and Dumfries and Galloway Health Board Endowment Fund.
