Dumfries and Galloway Council is supporting Show Racism the Red Card.Friday 6 October 2017 is Show Racism the Red Card Day in Scotland.
An anti-racism educational charity, SRtRC uses the high-profile status of football and football players to help tackle racism in society.
The majority of the campaign’s output delivers education to young people and adults in their schools, workplaces, and at events held in football stadiums.
The national day of action will raise funds for anti-racism education. In return for a donation, people wear red to work, etc.
Council Leader Elaine Murray said: “Being inclusive is a priority for our Council. Racism is simply unacceptable and I’m proud to show it the red card.”
Depute Leader Rob Davidson said: “It’s vital to educate young people that diversity should be celebrated, that we must treat everyone with dignity and respect, and that racism won’t be tolerated.”
