If there’s something weird, and it don’t look good, who you gonna call?! The Monsters Ball is back this coming Halloween weekend at Comlongon Castle, Dumfries and Galloway and this year they will be joined by Whithorn Paranormal Investigators, who will be offering an exclusive ghost hunting experience at haunted Comlongon as one of the fabulous themed prizes in the charity auction for Macmillan Cancer Support!
The event, now in its 3rd year, is returning to the atmospheric setting of Comlongon Castle on Saturday 28th October for an evening of eerie entertainment and fang-tastic fundraising, with all proceeds going to the charity. Last year, the Monsters Ball had the castle rocking with witches, devils and monsters as the ghoulish guests celebrated Halloween in style at this glittering charity ball with a difference! This year looks set to be another spooktacular evening of frights and delights, with a line up of entertainment including the tragic tale of Comlongon’s resident ghost, Lady Marion Carruthers – as told by local storyteller Susi Briggs – live music from Gina Lawson of Electric Velvet, magician Ryan Stokes, and tarot readings from local medium, Laura Montgomery.
Once again, local businesses have generously donated some really amazing prizes for the charity auction and raffle. This year’s star auction prizes will be themed, with a night’s stay in Comlongon’s ‘haunted suite’ on offer (are you brave enough?!) and an opportunity to join local group, the Whithorn Paranormal Investigators, on an exclusive investigation at Comlongon Castle next month! You will have the chance to learn more about the history and reported hauntings, and take part in a paranormal investigation as the local ghost hunters explore the site and attempt to determine whether there is any evidence of spooky goings on! Is there any truth to the stories of sightings of ghostly refugee children? Can the spirit of the Green Lady, Marion Carruthers, really be heard crying and roaming the castle? Included with this prize is your very own ghost hunting starter pack with all the equipment you need to start your own paranormal investigations! In addition, the group have also donated a selection of other ghost and Halloween themed prizes for the raffle. All proceeds from this go to Macmillan Cancer Support, so why not come along and bid on one of these unique experiences and help raise a monster amount for Macmillan!
Tickets for the event are £40, which includes a ghoulish hog roast banquet (vegetarian/vegan alternatives will be offered) and creepy cocktails. Discounts available for groups. There will also be a fright bus running to and from the event from the Whitesands in Dumfries to help with transport (please advise on booking tickets if seats are required).
Tickets can be purchased via the event’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/dumfriesmonstersball or buy online at http://monstersball.moonfruit.com/buy-tickets/4590401993.
