WEEKLY PRIMESTOCK SALE
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Tuesday 27th February 2018 had forward 1480 prime and cast sheep.
1232 prime hoggs sold to average 211.21 (SQQ 211.84). All classes would be slightly sharper topping at £119 for 42kg Beltex from Messrs McConnell, Gass, Glenluce which also topped price per kilo at 284.6ppk. Heavy hoggs sold to £109 for Texels from Messrs Lindsay, Culnaightrie and Blackface hoggs topped at £93.50 from Glen, Gatehouse.
Cast sheep sold similar to £133 for Texel rams from the Grange. Ewes to £103 for Texels from West Barmoffity.

Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Ltd sold 329 Store and OTM Cattle at their fortnightly sale on Monday 26th February.
A larger show of 293 Store Cattle met a strong demand with numbers being well short of buyers requirements. Topping the trade at £1380 were a pen of outwintered Charolais bullocks from G W Taylor, Disdow. Top price per kg in the bullock section was 275.5p paid to M & G Barr, Meikle Kirkland for a pen of Limousin crosses. Heifers sold to £1170 for British Blues from T Robb, Trolane and to 259.3p per kg for Limousin crosses from R Jardine & Son, Upper Hardland. Overall averages levelled at 232.3p (£934.25 per head) for bullocks and 220.4p (£771.25 per head) for heifers.
A strong show of OTM Cattle met an animated demand selling to 164p per kg for a Simmental from Graplin Farms and £1383.12 for a British Blue from Trolane. Overall average levelled at 131.65ppkg. Bulls sold to 119p or £1278.06 for a Charolais from Byrecroft.
