Top Award for Dumfries Portrait Photographer From Master Photographer Association

Dumfries and Galloway photographer Amanda Trotter of Beautiful Beginnings Photography Studio, 4 Whitesands, Dumfries  has just been awarded her Licentiateship of the Master Photographer Association (LMPA) with a stunning panel of Images of Portraits, which is Amanda’s speciality.

The judges’ comments given to Amanda, included words like sheer quality, impact, stunning, outstanding and unique, which explained the strength of the whole panel. Licentiateship of the MPA, is the hardest qualification to achieve within the photographic profession, as this takes a great deal of time, work and dedication to your art to reach this level.

Entering the Association at probationary level and reaching the required high standards of this qualification is such a massive achievement. Not only do you have to submit an extensive panel of photographic images, which are displayed and judged in front of 5 highly respected Fellows of the industry, but you also must produce an in depth working profile, about your work and business practises.

This document goes into the Health & Safety elements that must be understood when dealing with the public, also have professional insurances that protect the public. This is the reason why the public should only book a qualified professional photographer to photograph those precious memories in life, their wedding, pets or family and children, as it’s the only way they have of knowing they will get the best creative photographs and personal service possible.

Amanda told DGWGO “On Monday 19th March I had my panel of twenty images judged live by The MPA Master Photographers Association at The Photography Show in Birmingham. I gained my title of being a Master Photographer and received my Licentiate Award in Portrait photography.”
Amanda continued “This was an emotional and at times stressful journey but so worth whilst as I grew in confidence and saw huge improvement in my work as I was mentored along the way with the constructive criticism making my work better.”
“I am a firm believer of constantly bettering yourself as we never stop learning. My next personal goal is to get my Associate level within The MPA. This would be a huge achievement.”
Amanda also said “My studio is based at the Whitesands in Dumfries where I carry out a varied range of portraiture including Maternity, Newborn Art, Family, Make-Overs including boudoir shoots where I work along side talented hair stylists and Make-up Artists. I also have a magical enchanted studio set that is the only one in Dumfries and Galloway I have a lovely studio with reception area, two studios and a viewing area where I hope all my customers feel comfortable and at ease.”
“I hold a newborn certificate in the safe posing of newborns as this is a very specialised area as you need to know what you are doing to carry out Newborn Art Photography and I urge anyone going for newborn art photos to check with the photographer that they are qualified in this area.”
“Exciting times are ahead for my studio as I am just about to launch my new expressive portraiture where I get to tell my clients story through one image, this is going to be an amazing opportunity to offer something different that will make me unique and different to other portrait photographers in this area and I hope to offer it to the whole of Scotland.”
