Sanquhar Town Hall Legacy Lives On Thanks to New Community Committee

A community group are taking on the running of the Sanquhar Town Hall as of 1st April 2019. The new committee are now in place and are looking to hold some events to raise funds for the hall as they are starting with a balance of nil.

Daryll Moore (Chairman). Said “I am sure you will all be aware of the current situation regarding the Sanquhar Town Hall. Recently we advertised looking for volunteers to assist in the on going running of the hall. Since then we have had various meetings with Dumfries & Galloway Council, representatives from Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway and members of the community.
It was refreshing to see so many members in attendance at these meetings and also taking the time to complete surveys that were put out. I am pleased to report that a management committee has now been formed  and our constitution is now being implemented.
The plan for the Town Hall at this time is for it to continue to run this as it’s present purpose but with the view to make it more appealing and affordable for our community. We as a management committee are now asking you the community of Upper Nithsdale to get behind us in this new venture, to allow us to keep to Town Hall functioning.
To start we need to raise funds to allow us to do this as we will be setting out with a balance of nil. I am sure you will all agree it would be a sad day if this hall closes however to keep it open we need your full support.
Keep an eye out for upcoming fundraising events and we hope you will come along and support us. This is our chance to keep our Town Hall open. The committee will be starting to fundraiser prior to taking on the running of the hall in April 2019. “

First fundraiser has been set for Sunday 1st July from 2pm – 4pm – Strawberry Fayre – Tickets £3
