Local quilt-maker Ann Hill is edging closer to her fundraising target of £100,000 to support people living with dementia by presenting Alzheimer Scotland with a cheque for £3780 bringing her grand total to over £96,000.
Alzheimer Scotland’s local community fundraiser accepted the cheque from the talented artist from Dumfries at a presentation. The latest funding amount has been raised from to the sales of Ann’s most recent handmade quilts and quilting books.
Rebecca Muir, Community Fundraiser from Alzheimer Scotland, said: “We are all amazed by Ann’s dedication and ongoing support. To have raised such an incredible amount of money is wonderful and we can’t thank her enough for all the many hours she has invested into her quilt-making. All money raised will support our vision to help make sure nobody faces dementia alone.”
Talking about her latest donation, Ann Hill, added: “The latest donation has been raised from a recent quilt show in Glasgow where my Scottish dementia exhibition quilt was sold for £2,000. The latest amount has also been raised from talks delivered to WI’s, Rotary Clubs and Church guilds, where I ask for a donation for Alzheimer Scotland and also from the sales of my Scottish quilt pattern book.
“My fundraising total stands at £96,380 and I am aiming to reach £100,000. I haven’t done this alone. There are a whole bunch of quilters around Scotland who are making and donating lap quilts, fidget quilts, large and small quilts and giving their time so freely to help me reach my ultimate goal.”
