ADVANCED NOTICE OF CLOSURES ON THE A75 – BARNCROSH TO RINGFORD

Starting on the  4th of October the A75 will be closed while Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland resurface 1kilometre of the A75, Barncrosh to Ringford, which is located between Castle Douglas and Gatehouse of Fleet.

To allow this £300k project to take place, it will be necessary to implement a weekend closure of the carriageway between Thursday 4^th and Monday 8^th October, with three subsequent overnight closures.

Alan Murray, Scotland TranServ’s Principal Roads Design Engineer said:

“We have invested significantly over the last few months to resurface the carriageway at a number of locations along the A75. Working with local authorities, emergency services and key stakeholders these works have been scheduled to keep disruption to a minimum for local communities and businesses.

“We will continue to deliver a number of resurfacing projects along the A75 through the final few months of the year, depending on the weather conditions. Scotland TranServ will keep the community updated on our progress as this investment programme continues to unfold across Dumfries and Galloway.”

In order to protect the health and safety of our workers and the travelling public, it will be necessary to implement a series of road closures. Timings of which are detailed below:

• 7pm Thursday 4^th to 6am Friday 5^th October (convoy)
• 7pm Friday 5^th to 6am Monday 8^th October (closure)
• 7pm Monday 8^th to 6am Tuesday 9^th October (closure)
• 7pm Tuesday 9^th to 6am Wednesday 10^th October (closure)
• 7pm Wednesday 10^th to 6am Thursday 11^th October (closure)

This A75 road surface improvement scheme is among a number of projects being scheduled by Scotland TranServ to deliver long-term benefits to commuters, local communities and businesses across South West Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland.
