DIVERSIONS will be put in place during the weekend 26th to 29th of October and for two subsequent evenings afterwards whilst resurfacing work occurs on a 10 mile stretch of the A75 from Crocketford to Auchenreoch Loch.
Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland will resurface 0.5km of the A75 between Crocketford and Auchenreoch Loch, 10 miles west of Dumfries.
In order to complete the £180k programme of works as quickly and safely as possible, it will be necessary to implement a full weekend closure of the trunk road between 7pm on Friday 26th and 6am Monday 29th of October. This will be followed by two subsequent overnight closures required to complete the works.
Jane Maclennan, Scotland TranServ’s Assistant Engineer said:
“This is an extensive programme of work, under which we not only intend resurfacing the carriageway, but will deliver reinforcement of the main pavement structure in order to address issues with cracking in the base layers.
“Scotland TranServ has been working in consultation with local authorities, emergency services and key stakeholders in the scheduling of these works. The project has been planned in order to reduce disruption to the local community and businesses in and around Crocketford.”
In order to complete the works it will be necessary to implement road closures of the A75 on the following dates:
- 7pm Friday 26th to 6am Monday 29th October
- 7pm Monday 29th to 6am Tuesday 30th October
- 7pm Tuesday 30th October to 6am Wednesday 31st October

This A75 road surface improvement scheme is among a number of projects being scheduled by Scotland TranServ to deliver long-term benefits to commuters, local communities and businesses across South West Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland.
