With the increasing problem of livestock worrying and dog fouling on farmland, NFU Scotland is currently running a survey to gather as many views as possible about the extent of these issues, which will help form the basis of a campaign they are launching shortly.
Ruth McClean, Communications Manager for NFU Scotland said: “On an increasing basis we are hearing of issues on farmland caused by irresponsible dog owners.
“Livestock worrying and dog fouling are two growing issues for farmers and crofters and many pet owners do not understand the impact allowing their dogs to chase or worry livestock, or not picking up after them on farmland, can have.
“NFUS has launched a survey to gather as much evidence from those who have experienced either of these issues to help form the basis of a campaign about irresponsible dog ownership. They’re input is invaluable and we would encourage as many people as possible to take a few minutes to complete the survey.”
The survey is not just NFUS members, and the closing date is 12 December. There is also the chance to win a luxury hamper for those completing the survey.
