In a desperate bid to keep the project alive, Kirkcudbright Skatepark is holding a make-or-break meeting on Thursday 21st March to secure support for the project after only a tiny handful of people turned up at the last meeting.
After 5 years securing funding and putting the project to tender, work is scheduled to start in July but a lack of engagement from the local community has left the small group of trustees struggling with the workload.
Skatepark Chair, Laura Moodie, said: “Over the next few months, volunteers will need to work together to get the project through the planning process, plan a launch event, promote the project and create a sustainable group to manage the Skatepark in the long term. It’s a lot of work but also has the potential to be a lot of fun and create a lasting legacy for the community and especially its young people.”
Anyone interested in helping to turn the Skatepark dream into a reality is asked to come along to show their support. There will be volunteer sign-up sheets, small group discussions about the different aspects of the final push for the project and the opportunity to see drawings of the planned designs.
