FOUR WEEK LONG ROAD WORKS START ON A75 AT RINGFORD TODAY (5th JUNE)

Ringing in the changes at Ringford
Barr Surfacing and Civil Engineering, on behalf of Transport Scotland will help to ring in the changes at Ringford, with the resurfacing of the A75.
The £1.2million project gets underway today (Thursday the 5th of June) and is expected to last around 4 weeks. As well as resurfacing this section of trunk road, which is reaching the end of its operational life, Barr will also undertake further barrier works, with kerbing and white lining also be carried out. The works will be supervised by Transport Scotland’s trunk roads management and maintenance provider, Scotland TranServ
Neil MacDonald, Scotland TranServ’s Deputy Planned Maintenance Manager said:
“This is a significant programme of work, which will see the replacement of an important stretch of the trunk road network that is now reaching the end of its operational life. We have made every effort to reduce the impact on local drivers and freight traffic alike. We have recognised local events and will pull out of the area in order to let these pass freely. We will continue to keep the local community informed throughout.”
The project will run during June, with temporary traffic lights in operation supported by a convoy system during the week. Work will continue 7 days a week. The project team will pull out of the area for Armed Forces Day on 28th June. The Queen’s Baton Relay which will pass through Dumfries and Galloway around the 16th of June will not be affected.
Barr Surfacing and Civil Engineering’s General Manager, Chris Edwards added:

Should this single weekend road closure be required, then the diversion route would be via Tongland.
Every effort is being made to maintain local access throughout the project, and to ensure as little impact on local commuters as possible.
