46 year old Craig Conley from Locharbriggs in Dumfries is taking on 4 Marathons including London and Liverpool, 4 Half Marathons Including Great North Run & Great Scottish Run, 4 10k runs and the Tough Mudder this year to raise funds for Prostate Scotland, a charity that is close to his heart after losing his father to the disease back in 2012.
Craig Told DGWGO “In 2017 I decided to run the men’s health 10k in Glasgow in memory of my dad who passed away in 2012 through Prostate Cancer and I thought this would be fitting event to do as it is held on Fathers Day.
I had never been a big fitness fan so was out of shape and over weight and found it a struggle to run 200 yards never mind 10k,
After completing this I decided I would try and push myself a little bit further and signed up for the Scottish Half Marathon,
In 2018 I continued my support of Prostate Scotland by taken part in Benidorm Half Marathon along with Andrew Finnie and my very 1st Full Marathon in Edinburgh with the support of my wife Debbie and work colleague Laurie Johnstone who dragged me round to the finish,
For some unknown reason 2 days later I decide to sign up for the Lochness Marathon in Sept which fell in between doing the Great North Run and the Great Scottish Run.
2019 will be my toughest year as I am taken part in
4 Marathons including London and Liverpool
4 Half Marathons Including Great North Run & Great Scottish Run
4 10k runs
And Tough Mudder
So far this year I have completed X Border 10k and Benidorm Half Marathon and the Bannatyne Dumfries 4hr Cardio Challenge that they arranged to help me increase Prostate Awareness.
Staff and Members and my local Gym in Dumfries have been great in there support of this cause getting the message out there running an awareness week and I cant thank them enough for there time, effort fundraising and raising over £1200.00.
Next stop shall be the London Marathon on April the 28th this will be a special and emotional event for myself as it falls on what will be my Dads Birthday,
Support from local Business has been great by the way of shirt sponsors, supporters and donations I would like to thank them all for their kindness.
Finally a big thank you to every one who has supported me and donated over the last 3 years it has motivated me to continue doing what I am doing in Raising Prostate Awareness.
