Advanced Warning Of A75 Resurfacing Works – Bridge Of Dee

A traffic convoy system will be put in place on the A75 between Kelton Farm and Bridge of Dee, west of Castle Douglas from the 13th until the 18th of April.

These essential improvements are part of Transport Scotland’s strategic trunk road management programme, Scotland TranServ will resurface the A75 between Kelton Farm and Bridge of Dee, west of Castle Douglas as quickly and safely as possible, it will be necessary to implement a daytime convoy from the 13th until the 18th of April.

David Montgomery, Scotland TranServ’s Assistant Engineer said:

“We’ve planned this £125k project in consultation with the local authority, emergency services and key stakeholders. Resurfacing this 330m stretch of the trunk road involves a significant programme of work and therefore to reduce disruption we will carry this out under a daytime convoy.”

The convoy traffic management system will operate as follows:

  • 7am to 7pm each day between Saturday 13th and Thursday 18th of April

Alan Murray, Scotland TranServ’s Principal Road Design Engineer added:

“This is a busy stretch of our trunk road network, connecting the Irish ferry ports at Cairnryan with Scotland’s central belt and the north of England. It’s important to us to keep disruption to a minimum, and therefore we have considered a number of temporary traffic management proposals in the programming of these works. We believe that on this occasion a convoy system will reduce the impact on the travelling public.”

Drivers are advised to allow some additional time for their journey. Live trunk road updates are available on trafficscotland.org or by following @trafficscotland on Twitter.

This investment into the A75 is one of a number of such programmes being carried out by Scotland TranServ across South West Scotland, supporting the economic growth and development of the area.

Evan Ferguson, Scotland TranServ’s Planned Maintenance Manager concluded:

“This programme of work has been scheduled to be delivered with maximum efficiency and minimal disruption. Across South West Scotland, we’re working on behalf of Transport Scotland to prioritise such road maintenance issues and deliver our road surface improvement projects as quickly, efficiently and safely as possible.”
