Chris McBride from Dumfries Cricket Club has been named, for the first time, in a Scotland representative squad and this week travelled to Ireland with the 15-man Scotland ‘A’ side for their tour to face Ireland ‘A’.
The trip consists of three 50-over and four T20 matches at Oak Hill CC in County Wicklow, Leinster. Nine capped Scotland players are included in the squad.
The 19 year-old is playing club cricket this season in the North-East Premier League, and for Oxford MCCU in the MCC Universities competition and with English County side Durham and impressed scoring runs for the latter’s Academy team against the Scotland Performance Academy, at Uddingston at the end of May.
The tour is now Chris McBride’s second outing for Scotland A after being included in last week’s trip to Blackpool to face Lancashire 2nd XI where the side registered two T20 wins.
This is his first selection for a Scotland squad, age-group or senior. He now joins his older brother Thomas McBride who played for Scotland in the 2012 U19 World Cup in Australia.
