Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited continued their seasonal Breeding Sheep sales on Monday 2nd September when they staged their annual sale of Blackface Ewe lambs. Despite being shown in good bloom trade for all classes was well back on the year. Continuing uncertainty over BREXIT and the general lack of cash did not help to inspire bidders either. Topping the sale at £112 was a pen from J Murdoch, Knockdon, Straiton. This was followed at £98 from Milnmark and Gass, then £94 from Craig, Straiton. Overall average levelled at £62.92 for 2281 compared to £87.76 for 1940 last year.
