Kirsty Lennon from the Scottish Borders has presented a cheque to staff at the Alexandra Unit at DGRI having raised funds completing the Edinburgh Marathon Festival 10K race.
Kirsty was keen to raise the money as a thank you to staff for the exceptional care given to family who were patients there, and to their relatives who visited and stayed overnight in the unit.
Kirsty said:
“My family cannot praise the staff at the Alexandra Unit enough for the care they provide. We all want to help the unit in some way. My uncle donated money, and my cousins made up a gift box filled with toiletries for use by family members who stay overnight there. It’s the little things like being able to shower after staying over, or make a hot drink that makes those times supporting your loved ones a little less difficult to go through.”
Nick Mitchell, Endowment Fund Manager, NHS D&G, said:
“We are really grateful to Kirsty and her family for this donation to the Endowment Fund, in support of the Alexandra Unit. Staff on the unit can put it to best use so that other patients and their families can benefit in a similar way that Kirsty and her family has.”
