Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Monday 3rd February 2020 had forward 228 OTM and Store Cattle, along with 603 Store hoggs
Cast cows were a roaring trade and well short of requirements selling to £1210.88 for an Aberdeen Angus cow from Messrs Robb, Trolane with top per kilo being 140p per kg for a right altering Simmental from Messrs McWhirter from Kenmure, Kirkcowan
203 Store cattle were again easily sold and well short of requirements. Top today was £1320 for a real British Blue Bullock from Messrs Robb, Trolane and top per kilo in the bullocks was 247.4p per kg for a pen of cracking Charolais from Messrs McCornick, Barnbackle. Bullocks sold to average 207.62 for mostly stronger cattle.
Heifers sold to £1175 for a tremendous pen of Simmental heifers from Messrs Taylor, Disdow, Gatehouse of Fleet with top per kilo of 251.8p per kg being a pen of tremendous grazing Lim X heifers from Messrs Jardine, Upper Hardland.
603 Store Hoggs were again a flying trade selling to £91 twice for Texels and Suffolks from Messrs Johnstone & Whitby, Wheatcroft, Castle Douglas. Blackface lambs sold to £78 from Copelaw.

Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Tuesday 4 February 2020 had forward 2433 prime and cast sheep.
2003 prime hoggs sold to average 239.4 (SQQ 242)
All classes were the dearest trade of the season especially lightweight hoggs that got sharper as the sale went on with pen after pen selling around 250ppk.
Best bred lambs broke the 300 barrier for the first this season at CD topping at 304.9 and £125 for a phenomenal Beltex hogg from Messrs Craig, Compstonend, Twynholm. Heavy hoggs sold to £132 for Texels from Messrs McGhie, Mid Threave, Kirkcowan.
526 Blackface hoggs averaged 235.6 and sold to a top of £104 x 2 firstly for heavy hoggs from Messrs Borland, Castlehill, Castle Douglas with an export weight pen fetching the same weighing 44kgs. Top per kilo was 254.5 for a pen of lightweight hoggs from Messrs Sheddan, Balgerran, Castle Douglas. Export weights topped at 245.6 for a pen from Messrs Mitchell, Little Larg, New Luce.
430 cast sheep were a flyer again with Blackface ewes being the dearest seen this season, topping at £86.50 for a pen from Mains of Larg, New Luce. Top per head was an outstanding Beltex ewe from Mid Theave at £150 Mules sold to £96.50 from the same home.
