A wonderful show of 707 cattle with something for everybody was forward at Castle Douglas. Trade was on fire being the dearest for some time. Judging was ably carried out by Mr Wullie Purdon and he made the following awards

The Champion of the day went on to sell for £1380 for a 10 month old Limousin X from Lantonside and made 353.8ppk
Reserve Champion was also a Limousin heifer from Glentoo which sold for £1220 for an 11 month old heifer and made 336.6ppk.
Bullocks topped at £1360 for Limousins from Messrs Wallace, Fingland and 279.7ppk again for Limousins from Garheugh Farms. 441 bullocks sold to average 225.55ppk or £967.89 per head.
Heifers topped at £1400 for Angus’ from Messrs Walker, Mindork and 353.8ppk for Limousins from Herries Farms, Lantonside. 256 heifers sold to average £913.43 and 221.56ppk.
Bulls sold to £1070 from Glentoo and 238ppk from Cardoness.
OTM Cattle sold to £1196.10 for a Limousin Bull from Margrie with Cows to £1181.80 (190ppk) for a Limousin from Nether Barr.
