Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson has welcomed news that work on vehicle detection system for Kirkcudbright Bridge will finally commence before the end of the months.
Mr Carson has been contacted by concerned constituents for months after delays to the planned work and had pressed Dumfries & Galloway on the timetable. This also follows the temporary traffic light,s which were set up in place of the vehicle traffic system, being out of action.
Mr Carson said: “After months of delayed action, partly down to the COVID-19 pandemic, I am pleased that residents, visitors and businesses finally have some certainty over the planned repair works to the Kirkcudbright Bridge.
“The temporary traffic lights have caused inconvenience to motorists and disruption particularly for the farming community. I welcome the action that is finally being taken to resolve this outstanding issue.
“It is of great important to have unrestricted vehicle access across the bridge and I will continue to closely liaise with Dumfries & Galloway Council on the progress of the works being undertaken.
