As part of Transport Scotland’s strategic trunk road management programme, Amey will shortly resurface a 450m stretch of the A75 at East Braes, near Crocketford.
A daytime convoy traffic management system will be implemented in order to carry out this short resurfacing programme as quickly and safely as possible. Works will be carried out between 7.30am and 6pm each day, on the Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd of October.
In line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance, our operatives will follow strict physical distancing protocols throughout the project.
Alan Murray, Assistant Planned Maintenance Manager said:
“This short programme will be carried out under daytime convoy working, in order to reduce the impact on communities as they recover at this time. This is an important section of the trunk road network, and as such is used by emergency services, freight, retail and delivery traffic as part of their essential working. It is vital that we complete these works in order to maintain road safety.
“Amey on behalf of Transport Scotland, would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their patience while we deliver this important improvement project.”
Drivers are advised to allow some additional time for their journey in order to travel through the convoy traffic management system. Motorists looking for live trunk road updates can follow @trafficscotland on Twitter, or visit trafficscotland.org.
Emma Burns, Amey’s Planned Maintenance Manager added:
“Amey fully recognises the importance of a safe and reliable trunk road network and we are supporting Transport Scotland as they expect to invest £471million in maintenance in 2020/21. The health and safety of our workers and those working on our behalf, is of the utmost importance, and projects will only be taken forward where we can ensure their safety as a priority.
“An efficient and well-managed trunk road network is particularly important to supporting essential supply chains and the wider economy across South West Scotland at this time. Working in collaboration with Transport Scotland, we have identified a number of essential maintenance projects, which are being prioritised over the coming weeks.”
