As part of Transport Scotland’s strategic trunk road management programme, Amey is next week delivering a programme of three short resurfacing schemes surrounding Stranraer.
In order to deliver these works as quickly and safely as possible, it will be necessary to implement a series of daytime convoy systems. This form of traffic management will help to minimise disruption to the community. A short closure will also be necessary for works at Cairney’s Corner.
In line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance, our operatives will follow strict physical distancing protocols throughout the project.
Alan Murray, Amey’s Assistant Planned Maintenance Manager said:
“This is an important section of the trunk road network, and as such is used by emergency services, freight, retail and delivery traffic as part of their essential working. It is vital that we complete these works in order to maintain road safety. Works will be carried out under daytime convoy working, however some minor closures may be required, with short local diversions in place.
“Amey on behalf of Transport Scotland, would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their patience while we deliver this important improvement project.”
Works being delivered during the next week are:
- A75 Stranraer resurfacing – Total road closure between A751 and Stair Drive, with a convoy in place for school traffic – Tuesday the 13th until Thursday 15th of October
- A75 Cairney’s Corner – Full closure (24hours) from A751 to the Commerce Rd jct then convoy (8am to 5pm) from there to beyond the school junction (McMasters Junction) – Tuesday 13th until Thursday 15th of October
- A77 Barr’s Yard – Rescheduled resurfacing of the A77 south of Cairnryan under daytime convoy on Thursday the 15th and Friday the 16th of October from 8am to 5pm.
All dates are indicative, and subject to change due to extreme weather events or unforeseen scheduling issues.
The works will precede a major resurfacing scheme at Ryan Bay, which will be delivered under a convoy traffic management programme later this month.
Drivers are advised to allow some additional time for their journey. Special arrangements will be made for emergency service vehicles, however not further measures will be made for windfarm or abnormal load traffic.
