A NHS Dumfries and Galloway nurse is still beaming with pride after she was officially given royal seal of approval.
Jenny Manson from Kirkudbright received a 15-minute call from the Duke of Cambridge who give his heart-felt thanks for her efforts.
The call took place while Jenny was working at Gardenhill Primary Care Centre, Castle Douglas, where she is currently on secondment with the Covid Vaccination Team.
At the end of last year, Jenny was a finalist in the Scottish Health Awards and lifted the Scotland’s Nurse of the Year title.
She said: “It was an incredible time for me to win this award and the Duke wanted to know about this and my role locally and my background to winning this award.
“The chat took place via telephone. We discussed the great response there has been to vaccination programme before going on to discuss my award.
“The Duke was extremely kind and easy to talk to. I told him that the global pandemic did not stop me or the team carrying out our care and support. He finished off by saying that the NHS was in good hands with me on board!”
Jenny was awarded for making a significant impact to patients locally. She was involved in delivering end of life care to two children who died and is currently supporting at least one other family with a child with declining health.
