Dumfries Under 11s On Target With A Nunholm Win – Cricket News

Dumfries under 11s welcomed Penrith at Nunholm for a pairs game on Sunday and Captain Cory Dawson won the toss and opted to have a bowl on a green artificial wicket.

Angus Middlemiss performed well on his hard ball debut taking three early wickets and Sarah Cox continued to impress with her bowling with two wickets as well. That, plus a direct hit run out by Dawson, had Dumfries on top early with dismissal run deductions. Another debutant Isaac Ishmael showed promise with his good seam bowling. Both Macey Corbett-Byers and Dawson then delivered a good finish by not conceding a run off their four overs, plus each took a wicket, to put Dumfries in a good position to chase down Penrith’s total.

After a couple of solid batting pairings, twins Oliver and Jonty Clark-Maxwell came to the crease and played some great cricket shots. Oliver hit one cover drive to the boundary and brother Jonty hit a pull shot for four. Then in the last batting pair Cory Dawson managed to  hit his first four balls faced to the boundary for 4. Thomas Cook continued to show confidence with the bat and together they kept Dumfries well above the Penrith total after a good all round team effort. The Dumfries Player of the Day went to Cory Dawson for his efforts with the bat and in the field.
