A VERY speedy response has followed the detection of COVID cases associated with Midpark Hospital in Dumfries.
Rapid testing of patients and staff along with a deep clean within the hospital has provided a greater understanding of the situation, and a measure of assurance.
A total of 9 positive cases of COVID have been confirmed across staffing and patients in Cree Ward within the mental health facility for in-patient care.
This comes as high numbers of cases continue to be detected within the local community – across all four of the region’s localities: Nithsdale, Annandale and Eskdale, Stewartry and Wigtownshire.
At this time, Cree Ward at Midpark Hospital has been closed to new admissions and routine in-patient visiting. This will be reviewed regularly with an aim to open up admissions and visiting as early as possible.
Amid ongoing cases of COVID within the local community, a reminder is issued of the very great importance of following current rules and guidance.
Guidance continues to apply around hand hygiene, the wearing of face coverings in public settings and considering social interactions and the environments where those take place.
Is it also vitally important that anyone who believes they may be experiencing symptoms of COVID immediately self-isolates, arranges to have a COVID test, and continues to self-isolate until results are received.
Regular twice-weekly testing also continues to be advised for those people who are asymptomatic, with availability via a number of routes.
