ANNUAL SHOW & SALE OF YEARLING CALVES AND STORE CATTLE
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Saturday 25th September 2021 held their annual show and sale of Autumn born suckled calves and store cattle, where some 1623 cattle were forward.
A great show of cattle was presented to a full ringside of buyers with the Judge commenting that “trade was on fire”. Great credit must be shown to the Vendors today for presenting an absolutely outstanding show of cattle. Also many thanks to the buyers today, some of which travelled long distances from all over Scotland, England and Wales.
Top today was £1750 and 357.1ppk for British Blue Heifers from Messrs McCulloch, Glentoo.
Bullocks sold to £1490 for a Limousin from Messrs Sharp, Barscarrow and to 305.9ppk for Simmentals from Messrs Brown, Drumhumphry
Bullocks sold to average £1097.16 and heifers averaged £1037.42.
At the pre-sale show which was very kindly sponsored by Tarff Valley Ltd and ably judged by Catriona Little she awarded the Championship ticket to an outstanding heifer from Messrs McCulloch, Glentoo and reserve to a Bullock from the same home with the Champion pen of four from Messrs Hansell, Nether Barr.
