Queens Ladies were on the road for the third week running last Sunday, travelling to Ayrshire to take on Kilwinning Ladies.
Queens got off to a dream start in the first minute of the game when Freya Brown’s perfectly executed corner kick curved straight into the net at the back post. Queens doubled their lead on 21 minutes when Leona Smith swept the ball into the net following another corner kick. Queens added a third goal just before half time when Holly Ovens chipped the ball over the Kilwinning keeper from the edge of the box.
Eve Jackson was next on the score sheet on 66 minutes when she fired an unstoppable shot from the angle of the 18 yard box. Kilwinning pulled a goal back moments later but were then reduced to 10 players when their midfielder saw red for violent conduct off the ball. Queens scored a fifth goal on 77 minutes with several players involved in a great passing move which ended with a cross from the right wing being headed into the net from 6 yards by Holly Ovens. Kilwinning scored a late goal to make the full time score 5-2 to Queens.
This Sunday Queens have their last home league game of the season, a local derby against Annan Ladies at the NWCC.
