They are looking for local musicians, theatre-makers, dancers, spoken word artists and comedians to present short performances for their new programme strand, ‘The Gallovidian Gathering’ as part of the next Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival, 20th – 29th May 2022.
As part of the 2022 programme, Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival will present two traditional Ceilidh evenings – with a twist. They will unite the local food and drinks industry, artists, audiences and communities to create a celebratory evening that will reconnect people and promote Dumfries & Galloway. The evenings will feature a themed food element, spoken word and storytelling, theatre, dance and a ceilidh band, curated by their Strategic & Creative Director.
The event aims to strike moments of local connection, after such a long, hard period of isolation.
The Gallovidian Gathering will be presented twice across the region, during the festival on Saturday 21st of May and Saturday 28th of May.
They are looking for local artists/companies to make a creative performance response that is 5-20 minutes in length, to one of the following storytelling themes:
- Folk stories and local legends
- History and traditions
- Home
- The future of Dumfries & Galloway
