ROBBERY
Police in Dumfries are investigating a robbery which happened at around 1850 hours on Monday 6 October 2014 at the Toll Bar shop premises in New Abbey Road in Dumfries when the following described man entered the shop, armed with a knife, demanding money. At that time the shop was being staffed by a 45 years old shop assistant and a 13 year old shop assistant. As a result of this action the 45 year old shop assistant exited the shop and summoned assistance. The man then fled the shop and made off on a mountain bike. At this time it appears that only a small amount of cash has been taken. Whilst no-one was injured in this attack the two shop assistants were clearly traumatised by what took place.
The man who carried out this robbery is described as being between 5’7” – 5’9” tall, slim build, was wearing dark clothing, possibly a hooded top with a dark jacket and trousers. He had a scarf covering his face and spoke with a local accent. The man made off on a mountain bike and was last seen heading along Rotchell Park and into Robison Drive having been chased from the scene by passers by.
Detective Sergeant Stephen Bell of Police Scotland said “this is a very rare type of crime for Dumfries and no doubt was a very traumatic experience for all those involved. We are seeking the help of the public who were in the area at the time to get in touch is they can help us catch the man responsible. A number of people were in area at the time and helped raise the alarm.
