Featuring over 90 colour and black and white images covering a variety of subject matters, this is the club’s first ‘in person’ show since 2019 with both the 2020 and 2021 annuals being hit by lockdown closures.
Although they were able to offer a virtual exhibition on their website, this selection of over 90 framed works displayed across Gracefield Arts Centre Gallery 1 and the café offers something for everyone to enjoy, from wildlife to portraiture, landscape and cityscapes.
Councillor John Martin, Vice Chair of Communities Committee commented:

The Camera Club gives a warm welcome to all levels of photographer, from beginner to international award winner. Competitions are run throughout the year and speakers, both national and local, visit the club to lecture and give presentations on various aspects of photography and after a long time of virtual zoom meetings the group is now back meeting at Gracefield on Wednesday evenings. You don’t even have to take photographs! Just come along to an enthusiastic club, who enjoy seeing each other’s pictures from a wide mix of abilities and benefit from the fund of knowledge that is shared about all things photographic.
So if you are looking for inspiration, want to know which buttons to press on your camera or just want to join a friendly progressive photographic club, why not come along to Gracefield on a Wednesday evening and give it a go?
Also on in Gracefield Gallery 2 is the Scottish Portrait Awards: telling the story of 2021
featuring the remarkable works by the top prize-winners along with almost 60 other works selected from over 700 entries.
The exhibition runs until the 19 March, before ending its tour in Glasgow in April.
The paintings, drawings and photographs in the current Scottish Portrait Awards exhibition echo the dominant themes of our times. Family, environment, black lives, women’s empowerment and mental health issues are all reflected in the 61 works on show.

Hands-On art workshops to Try:
For all you budding artist out there, Gracefield’s kids club runs every Saturday for age 5-12, and a monthly session for the ‘Tweens’ and Baby and Toddlers (from £3.50-5.50 per session). Alongside the usual painting, printmaking and drawing we’ve a special workshop on the art of caricature on the 5 March with guest artist from Brighton, Harry Venning – there are still a few places left contact the gallery for more details on 01387 262084 and to book your spot.
Admission to Gracefield free and we are open Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 5pm, Café Refresh ‘til 4pm. No need to book in advance, just turn up.
