Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, are undertaking essential maintenance on the A75, East of Springholm from 7pm on Friday 20th May until 6am on Monday 23rd May 2022.
This scheme, with a value of £205,993, involves the resurfacing of around 0.75km of the A75 which links Stranraer to Gretna. It will benefit around 4,600 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
The work will be carried out using a full road closure at this location with a signed diversion route in operation. Traffic management will be in place from 7pm on Friday 20th May 2022 with the route re-opening to traffic at 6am on Monday 23rd May 2022. Arrangements have been made to maintain public transport, with full or restricted bus services operating during the closure period. Please contact the relevant bus operator for full details.
Traffic intending to travel on the A75 westbound carriageway will be diverted to leave the A75 at Garroch Roundabout and travel east to Cargenbridge. At Cargenbridge, traffic will turn right at the roundabout to join the A711 westbound to Dalbeattie. At Dalbeattie, traffic will turn right to join the B794 northbound and continue onto the A75.
Traffic intending to travel on the A75 eastbound carriageway will be diverted to join the B794 and continue to Dalbeattie. At Dalbeattie, traffic will turn left to join the A711 eastbound to Cargenbridge, at Cargenbridge traffic will travel west before turning right at the roundabout to re-join the A75 at Garroch Roundabout.
Please note, a Traffic Restriction Order will be in place to stop traffic joining School Brae Road (Old Military Road) from the B794. The diversion route will be unsuitable for abnormal loads.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
