Tracey Roan joined the NFU Scotland team last week, taking on the role of Regional Manager for Dumfries and Galloway.
Tracey farms with her husband, Steven, and their two children, milking 240 pedigree Holstein cows just outside Dalbeattie. Originally from the Scottish Borders, Tracey moved to Dumfries and Galloway after completing her Honours Degree in Rural Recreation and Tourism Management at SAC, Auchincruive, Ayr.
Tracey joins NFU Scotland from Scottish Land and Estates where she worked as a Regional Support Officer. Prior to this she spent 10 years working as a Housing Officer for a local housing association before returning to the farm full time in 2015 to manage the PR side of business when the family diversified into selling their milk direct. Tracey has also appeared, alongside her family, on the BBC’s This Farming Life which led to various public speaking opportunities at events throughout Scotland.
Discussing her new role, Tracey said: “From my time as a board member of the South of Scotland Economic Partnership and having worked as Regional Support Officer for Scottish Land and Estates, I have gained extensive knowledge of the diversity of Dumfries and Galloway, and the challenges facing the rural sector.”
“I am really pleased to have joined the NFU Scotland team, and with the return of the local shows I am looking forward to meeting as many members as possible face-to-face over the summer.”
NFU Scotland’s National Operations Manager James Buchanan said: “I am pleased to welcome Tracey to the NFU Scotland Regional Team as our new Regional Manager for Dumfries and Galloway. Tracey is well known in the area and had been an active member of the Union prior to joining the team. I hope the membership take the opportunity to introduce themselves to Tracey over the summer months at the shows and other events.”

She brings with her a wealth of knowledge, as well as first-hand experience of farming in our region.
