Your Move Dumfries Cricket Club won against third placed West of Scotland in the West Premier League.
In a close call, Tom McBride was the Barbours Player of the Match against West. Sue Strachan was the clear Ashleigh Building Player of the Match for a first women’s century against Grange Women.
On Saturday, Your Move Dumfries were asked to bat first at Nunholm but the top order batters then all made runs. Adam Malik and Scott Beveridge put together another opening partnership, of 75, when Malik was unfortunate to hit a full toss to square leg for 26. Beveridge reached fifty but was also caught in a similar fashion to make it 99 for 2 at 25 overs.
Then the spectators could appreciate a match defining partnership as Tom McBride came in to join Chris Bellwood who was back playing in his first game. Both are class players and showed it as they added a century partnership.
The run rate had been increasing from four an over and both batters went in attempting to increase that further in the final ten overs. First Bellwood was caught for an excellent run-a-ball 63. McBride was also caught for 53 but Dumfries pressed with runs from Jesse Smit (22no) and Chris Brockwell (17) and reached an imposing 272 for 6 after the 50 overs.
Then Dumfries missed an early catch off both West openers and with Tom Colgan batting well Chris Brockwell took his chance with a direct hit run out to remove his partner Page. West were up with the rate but Brockwell again struck with a sharp caught and bowled to dismiss Colgan for 40 and Alan Davidson got an lbw next over, 84 for 3.
Tommy McGrath in a good spell removed West Captain Fennah but they had reached 171 when McBride edged the Player of the Match Award when he calmly run out the dangerous Aussie John Colgan for 45.
A rain interrupted second innings revised the winning target down to 244 but now in 42 overs. However the bowling of Jesse Smit and McGrath helped keep the lid on the chase and, despite 45 not out by Spensley, Dumfries were more comfortable winners than the 13 run win suggests with West 231 for 6 at the finish.

Your Move Dumfries are also at home on Saturday as they, also in fifth, play fourth placed Stirling County in the Western Premier League.
In representative cricket Max Corbett-Byers and James Hobman were the two Dumfries players in the West U17s fixture against the East on Sunday. Before rain forced an abandonment at Greenock East U17s were reduced to 58 for 7 with James taking 1 wicket for 2 runs.
