Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are undertaking essential maintenance on A77, north of Stranraer, from Friday 16th September to Sunday 2nd October 2022.
The work, with a value of £943,964, will benefit around 2,714 vehicles using the trunk road each day by improving the condition of the carriageway on this key route to the Port of Cairnryan. The scheme will employ the innovative process of ex-situ road recycling to repair 1,061m of the A77, and save 1,300 tonne of tar-bound special waste being sent to landfill.
This scheme will operate using a continuous full road closure between Sandmill and Beach Cottage, between 7am on Saturday 17th September and 6am on Sunday 2nd October. Preparatory works using a temporary traffic light system will also be required on Friday 16th September.
A signed diversion route will be in operation.
Southbound traffic will be diverted to the A751 at Innermessan to re-join the A75 to Stranraer. Northbound traffic will follow the same route in the opposite direction.
Our operatives follow strict physical distancing and hygiene protocols throughout the programme, in line with the current Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
