Local residents in Dumfries & Galloway will have the chance to find out more about a new sustainable facility to support research for the dairy industry, which is planned to be built at the Barony Campus of Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC).
SRUC will host an online event on Wednesday 14 September (6pm-7pm), during which Kathleen Hallquist, the award-winning Borders architect, will present the design for the Dairy Nexus building that she has prepared and submitted for planning to Dumfries & Galloway Council in collaboration with leading London practice Jestico + Whiles.
Residents will also hear from SRUC’s Professor John Newbold – the project sponsor – who will explain how the Dairy Nexus project will drive innovation to decarbonise the dairy sector, accelerate productivity growth, safeguard animal health and wellbeing, and develop new products from dairy resources.

The Dairy Nexus project will receive funding from the Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal, which comprises Cumbria County Council, Dumfries and Galloway Council, Northumberland County Council, Scottish Borders Council and Carlisle City Council.
