Music at the Multiverse, one of Scotland’s newest live music events, held in the stunning Dumfries and Galloway Countryside, attracted close to 1,000 people to enjoy headliners including Glasvegas and the Red Hot Chilli Pipers – plus great DJs in the Dance Tent.
Sharp showers failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd as they listened to other well-known Scottish favourites The Bluebells and The Bay City Rollers. In the new Dance Tent, DJs included Jamie B, from Northern Ireland, Mallorca Lee and local favourite Malcolm X, from Kelloholm.
The two-day event, on 3-4 September also showcased local talent from Dumfries and Galloway and Ayrshire including The Dogz, Cammy Black, The Mocking Byrds, Redfish Blues Band, Archie Irving and Pedro and the Pirates.
On the Saturday 18 youngsters from the 1st Kelloholm Brownies were among the first to arrive after receiving free tickets thanks to sponsorship from local company Shaw. Sunday saw the Guides have a similar treat, with both groups enjoying a special backstage tour and DJ Malcolm X got them all dancing in the Dance Tent.
Sponsorship from David Hardie Engineering Ltd also allowed Crawick to work with Action for Children Upper Nithsdale to provide tickets for four families who would otherwise not have been able to attend.
Sharon Glendinning, General Manager of Crawick Multiverse, said: “It was a great weekend with Music at the Multiverse reaching a new level – despite the mixed weather.
“There was a great vibe with everyone enjoying themselves, the live music was fantastic, and the new Dance Tent was a big success.
“We were particularly pleased to welcome so many local people to the event – one of our major aims is for Crawick to be at the heart of the area’s community.”
Crawick Multiverse Trustee, Patrick Lorimer, added “Crawick Multiverse has to be one of the most spectacular settings for an outdoor event anywhere in Scotland. The success of this weekend just goes to underline its immense potential as an events venue for Dumfries and Galloway, Ayrshire and the whole of south west Scotland.”
Crawick Multiverse (a spectacular 55-acre environmental artwork and visitor attraction inspired by the sun, stars and colliding galaxies). Standing on the border of Dumfries & Galloway and Ayrshire, it features giant conical mounds representing colliding galaxies, a huge avenue of standing stones and even more spectacular features inspired by the sun, stars and other wonders of the cosmos.
