Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, are undertaking essential upgrades on the A76 in Sanquhar. Works to improve the pedestrian crossing at Deer Park Avenue will commence from Monday 17th October until Friday 4th November 2022 and will take place between the hours of 9am and 3:30pm, each day. These works form part of an £519,000 improvement package for the A76 in Sanquhar that will be delivered over the next six months.
This scheme, with a value of £35,000, will benefit around 6,000 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the pedestrian crossing and increasing safety for pedestrians.
The work will be carried out using 24-hour temporary traffic lights installed at this location, without the need for a diversion. We thank road users for their continued patience and cooperation during this time.
This scheme will upgrade the pedestrian crossing in this area through amending the build outs and the layout of the tactile pavements. In addition, the crossing poles will be relocated.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
Our operatives will follow strict physical distancing and hygiene protocols throughout the programme, in line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
