Dumfries and Galloway College Shortlisted For Green Energy Prize

Dumfries and Galloway College is delighted to be nominated for a prestigious eco-award by Scottish Renewables.

The college is shortlisted as a finalist for The Scottish Green Energy Awards 2022. Having received more than 150 entries, it is a huge achievement to have made the final list in the Contributions to Skills category.

With almost 13,000 students studying renewable energy-related courses in Scotland, the future looks bright for the industry. The Contributions to Skills award celebrates outstanding contributions made by individuals, groups or organisations to promote and uphold the highest quality standards in education, training and skills development for today’s or tomorrow’s workforce.

The nomination recognises the college’s work in its Green Skills Academy which was launched in 2021. The Academy meets the current and future demand in this ever-growing area by offering pathways into green skills or upskilling employees in courses in sustainable construction, energy and transportation. It also supports Scotland’s Green Economic Recovery and the race to Net Zero.

Scottish Renewables will welcome industry friends to the EICC in Edinburgh for black-tie ceremony on Thursday, December 1, which is headline sponsored by EDF Renewables.

The awards we will once again recognise 13 winners at a glittering celebration of the inspirational organisations, people and projects going above and beyond to make a real difference to the health, wealth and wellbeing of Scotland.

The Scottish Green Energy Awards have provided people and projects with the opportunity to celebrate their successes, and those of their colleagues and contacts, for more than 20 years.

Principal Joanna Campbell said: “Dumfries and Galloway College is delighted to be nominated in the Contributions to Skills category at this year’s Scottish Green Energy Awards.
“The nomination is recognition of the initiatives we have implemented at the college and we look forward to attending the ceremony.”
