The team from the Galloway & Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere will be at Cample Line in Thornhill on 23rd November to host a workshop for businesses that want to make space for nature.
Led by the Biosphere’s Land Use & Biodiversity and Business Development teams, the free workshop will be an informal and interactive session open to businesses of all sizes and sectors, whether they are working with a window box, patio garden or field. “Your business does not need to have any green space – you can still make a difference, at zero cost and often in ways that actually save you time,” says Mary Berry, the Biosphere’s Land Use Advice Officer. “Even the tiniest changes can help our wildlife and give local habitats a boost, and we’ll be talking about everything from bugs and birds to the plants that we walk past every day and barely notice. Please do come along, make some new connections and hear some ideas that could work for you and really benefit your business’s sustainability credentials.”
Galloway and Southern Ayrshire was designated a UNESCO Biosphere in 2012, in recognition of a unique natural and cultural heritage that make it an amazing place to live, work and play. It was the first UNESCO Biosphere in Scotland is part of a global network that currently numbers 738 Biospheres in 134 countries, all of which share the common goal of making life better for people and nature. Through a programme of partnership projects the Biosphere team works in conservation, education, sustainable development and climate awareness across more than 5200km² of southwest Scotland.
