The sound of Rio will arrive in Dumfries this December with the first of a monthly series of free workshops.
Dumfries School of Samba will launch at Loreburn Hall on December 14 with a taster session for people of all ages.
No experience is necessary and drums will be provided, so audiences are invited to come along and try their hand at whipping up a Samba beat.
Graham Main, Executive Producer of the Big Burns Supper, said: “We have been thinking about useful ways to use the incredible space at Loreburn Hall, and Samba drumming is such a great way to get everyone together being creative.
“It is easy to pick up and all drums will be provided.
“We hope that lots of people will come along and get into the Samba spirit with us!” The new School of Samba will be led by musician Jordan Ferguson who brings a wealth of experience from across the globe.
Jordan previously worked on percussion projects including Paulo’s Street Carnival (Brazil), COP26 (Glasgow) and The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
