& STORE LAMBS
Clean cattle and cast cows met unexpected demand. Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Monday 30 January sold OTM Cattle, Store Cattle and Store Hoggs.
Clean cattle sold to 259ppk and £1807 for a Charolais x steer from Messrs Kirk, Hall of Drumpark and also 259ppk from Messrs Watson, Slatehouse.
OTM Cattle sold to £2137.20 for a Charolais bull from Messrs Nelson, Cogarth and averaged a whopping 195ppk for an average show. Cows sold to £1662.68 for a Simmental from Messrs Watson, Slatehouse.
A smaller show Store Hoggs sold to £90 for Texels from Messrs Thomson, Nether Corsock
Store Cattle sold to £1700 for an Angus heifer from Messrs Burgess, Maryfield and to 285ppk for Simmental bullocks from Messrs Taylor, Little Galdenoch.
