The Dumfries & Galloway Rugby Podcast (DGRP), launched in October 2022 by Ross Sanderson and John Muir, is the first podcast dedicated to rugby in the southwest of Scotland.
It is a weekly podcast, released every Wednesday at 1 pm, and was set up to shine a light on and celebrate rugby in Dumfries and Galloway.
Six teams across the region are covered on the podcast – Newton Stewart, Dumfries Saints, Stewartry, Annan, Wigtownshire and Moffat – to bring listeners all the latest news that the clubs have to offer. Every week, John and Ross will cover each team, discussing their most recent result and previewing the next fixture they have coming up. They also welcome special guests, such as players, coaches and club representatives from around the area to the podcast for exclusive interviews, the first of which was D&G’s very own Stafford McDowall!
John and Ross Told DGWGO Sports News “DGRP was born out of a love for the game. Dumfries and Galloway can often be overlooked when it comes to the broader scope of Scottish Rugby but the love and dedication to the sport we have here, both on and off the pitch, is something to be highlighted. Not only have we produced a whole host of highly talented professional rugby players down the years, we also have a number of community-run clubs that work tirelessly to supply a sense of belonging and inclusion to people of all ages throughout the region. While remaining a relaxed and conversationally open podcast, DGRP’s aim has always been to grow the game of rugby in Dumfries and Galloway and put a spotlight on those that strive to keep something that we love going.”
