The team behind the very popular MASONIC ARMS Boutique Hotel, Restaurant and Pub in Gatehouse of Fleet, Dumfries and Galloway, are now offering a stunning self catering holiday let that sits just along the road from the historic Inn, to compliment the accommodation that they already have on offer.
The Masonic Arms is owned by business partners Richard, Sofia and Jimmy, who bought the building back in 2017, and over the years since purchasing the historic coaching Inn, they have continued to invest in the business, creating a very unique and popular place to eat and stay. Now with the addition of a beautiful new holiday let ‘The Posting Stables’ situated only a 100 yards from the Masonic Arms’ front door in the centre of Gatehouse of Fleet.
Originally The Posting Stables were built in around 1750, as horse stables for the postmen who would stay in the Murray Arms Hotel directly opposite (where while on a visit to Gatehouse in 1793, Robert Burns penned the first draft of his famous poem, Scots Wha Hae). The Masonic team have a collection of the original deeds for the building, which they are hoping to frame and put on display.
Local joiner Neil Gilston, who carried out the work on the brand new holiday let, lives right next door at number 6 Old Posting Stables, Neil said that his neighbour who passed away five years ago aged 95, remembered far enough back, that they recalled when there used to be a horse called Sally who stayed in the stable where he now lives!
Once again all the design work was been carried out by Sofia using local tradesmen and suppliers.

Gatehouse of Fleet is a small town and is also a UNESCO Biosphere community, situated near the mouth of the Water of Fleet, ten miles west of Kirkcudbright. It is the ideal central location for exploring the whole of Dumfries and Galloway with easy access to the regions main trunk road the A75.
Local historical attractions include Cairn Holy Chambered Cairns, Cardoness Castle, a late 15th-century fortified tower house and the ruins of Anwoth Church with its atmospheric graveyard, used as a filming location for the original Wickerman Movie.
Gatehouse is centrally located within easy reach of the coast, local towns and attractions including Dumfries, Newton Stewart, Castle Douglas, Stranraer, Kirkcudbright, Galloway Forest Park, 7 Stanes Mountain Biking, Mull of Galloway, Logan Botanic Gardens And Threave Gardens, to name just a few.
