First UK date and Off-Broadway run confirmed for the premiere adaptation of Cecil Beaton’s Diaries adapted and performed by Richard Stirling as Sir Cecil Beaton
Monday 17th & 18th April – The Swallow Theatre, Moss Park, Ravenstone, Whithorn
“Be daring, be different, be impractical! My ambition was to demonstrate I was not just an ordinary person”
Performed by Richard Stirling, whose recent TV credits include Bridgerton and The Crown.
Following five star reviews in Edinburgh, Cecil Beaton’s Diaries has its New York premiere as part of Brits Off Broadway, following its initial UK tour date at The Swallow Theatre at Ravenstone, Whithorn.
For the first time, the diaries of Sir Cecil Beaton come to the stage, to accompany his most iconic images. Beaton’s photographs showed his versatility; his diaries exposed the cost. Even his designs for My Fair Lady never stopped his doubts. And his passion for Greta Garbo found fulfilment only in his writing.
Blisteringly funny, with appearances ranging from Elizabeth Taylor to Truman Capote, the diaries paint a self-portrait of the 20th century’s most compelling dandy.
Stirling epitomises Beaton’s crisply tailored demeanour ★★★★★
