Stewartry RFC has made it through to the National Shield final after beating Caledonia 1 winners Dunfermline 35-19. Tries from Steven Hogg (2), Iain McMorran (2) and David Armstrong secured a place at Murrayfield on the 6th of May for Sandy Currie’s men.
Wigtownshire also had a day to remember as they secured promotion into West 1 for next
season after beating Dalziel 34-22 at home. Despite being shown three yellow cards throughout the game, Robbie Forsyth (2), Calum Smith (2) and Jason Mckie were on hand to help the Stranraer side record a famous victory.
Cammy Little, Max Douglas, Dan Robson and Owen Nelson all got on the scoresheet for Moffat as they fell narrowly short against Lanark & Clydesdale 32-28. Although a loss, The Rams still pick up two points on the road thanks to losing and try-scoring bonuses.
Hillhead Jordanhill visited Greenlaw to play Stewartry Sirens and came away with a 36-12 win on the road. Phaedra Snailham added yet another two tries to her impressive tally as the Blacks brought their brilliant season to a close.
Shire Women also played their last game of the year over the weekend against Cartha 2s but were unable to finish on a high after losing 29-17. There were good performances all around, however, with Carla Campbell and Amy Mcneil picking up players of the match, and Eloise Moulton and Maya Paterson putting in good shifts in their respective debuts for the club.
Fixtures for this weekend:
Boroughmuir v Newton Stewart (National 2)
Lasswade v Dumfries Saints (National 2)
Cumnock v Stewartry (West 1)
Annan v East Kilbride (West 1)
