The group recently won the Best Album and Best Instrumental Track awards at the 2023 Wales Folk Awards for their second album, ‘islais a genir.’ This follows their previous wins at the 2019 awards, where they took home Best Album and Best Traditional Welsh Language Track awards for their debut album, ‘Tŷ Ein Tadau.’ VRï has also been nominated for the Welsh Music Prize and the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

VRï’s music draws inspiration from Wales’ traditional music and dance, blending it into a unique “chamber-folk” aesthetic. The group consists of Jordan Price Williams on cello and vocals, Aneirin Jones on violin and vocals, and Patrick Rimes on viola and violin. They explore the “broken history” of traditional fiddle music in Wales, which survived thanks to Wales’ Romani Gypsy population.

Their music celebrates Welsh identity and connects across centuries, providing a sense of belonging, community, and uplifting freedom. They will embark on a UK tour with 31 performances, playing festivals and venues from Orkney to London between May 5th and June 16th.

Don’t miss your chance to see VRï perform live at the CatStrand and experience their unique blend of traditional and modern music.
