49 Children Attended South West of Scotland Piping & Drumming Academy June Workshop

South West of Scotland Piping & Drumming Academy had its monthly June workshop for school children at The Bridge in Glasgow Road Dumfries last Saturday 3rd .
49 children attended, with very early beginners form 10.30am until 12.00noon, and more advanced pipers and drummers from 12.30 until until around 4.00pm. The pupils did some work preparing them for sitting music exams as laid out by the Piping & Drumming Qualifications Board (PDQB) and recognised by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), as well as getting tuition.
Andrew McCartney from  South West of Scotland Piping & Drumming Academy  Said “These exams will take place at our Annual Summer School which runs from Sunday 9th until Friday 14th July, at SRU Barony Campus, Parkgate, near Dumfries The week long Summer School finishes on the Friday, early evening, with a free for all concert to illustrate to parents and visitors what the children have learned during their week.
We have a near full capacity of children  –  most staying for the whole week, and one or two very young children, and those living very near, visiting daily. All this is completely free to the children, and to the visitors alike.”
